You might be thinking “what is a digital marketing company doing writing about social media influencers?” I know, we should be writing about XML Sitemaps and Zero Cost Strategies, but here we are showing off our “hip” knowledge about the influencers of social media. We are by no means Pop Culture experts or even going to try to be. But we are going to tell you why you should be your own social media “influencer” for your company… oh and 10 popular (some of my favorite) influencers of 2021!
You are your company’s #1 fan. If you are not then we may have a problem… Just kidding (kind of)! To show off your fandom why not take it to social media where 82% of the United States’ population spends most of their time? It’s FREE advertising! We understand, you may not have established credibility (that blue checkmark by your name) in the Twitter-sphere, and therefore you are technically not an “influencer,” but you CAN give your business credibility by posting pics to the gram or sharing your most popular products on Facebook. Still don’t know how to become your own influencer? Okay, now we will share with you 10 popular influencers of 2021. Maybe you can get some ideas from them.
Cristiano Ronaldo
148 Million Followers on Facebook
We are starting off our list with a bang! The 36 year old Portugese football player was named one of the most influential people in the world in 2020, and now he has the most followers on Facebook as of March 2021. Ronaldo is known for being one of the greatest footballers in the history of the game. With a reputation like that, no wonder company’s are asking him to be an influencer for their brand. No worries though, you don’t need to be a professional football player to influence your own company. Take Joanna Gaines for example…
Joanna Gaines (my personal favorite)
13 Million Followers on Instagram
If I would have said go follow Joanna Gaines on Instagram 10 years ago, you probably would have said “who?” Fast forward to 2021 and Waco, Texas is now a hotspot for the interior design loving, Fixer Upper fan tourist travel. Starting out with a small decor shop and flipping houses with her husband and then turning that into the Magnolia brand we all (you know, us interior design lovers) have come to love. That is what small business owners strive for. Who’s to say you can’t do the same? Channel your inner Joanna Gaines influencer attitude and go for it!
Amanda Cerny (who?)
24.7 Million Followers on Instagram
She came to fame on the ancient app called Vine. Does anyone remember that one? Vine was best known for short form video clips and was founded in 2012. Kind of similar to what Tik Tok is today. Well, Amanda now has over 45 million followers across YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. For what? For being a health and wellness enthusiast, actress and model.
Shakira
100 Million Followers on Facebook
Her hips don’t lie, and neither do the stats on most-followed on Facebook. Shakira is #2 in line as one of the most-followed people on Facebook, right behind Ronaldo. Instead of using her fame to promote and influence brands, Shakira uses it to improve global education. Now that is an influencer!
Elon Musk
51 Million Followers on Twitter
Have you heard of PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX? Thought so. Now one of the wealthiest men in America, Elon Musk is just about every entrepreneur’s idol. I mean, who wouldn’t want to send mankind back into space after almost a decade hiatus?
Kylie Jenner
226 Million Followers on Instagram
I know, you’ve been waiting for a Kardashian or Jenner to get listed. Well survey says Kylie Jenner is the most influential of all the Kardashian and Jenner clan. And why wouldn’t she be? She may have been raised in the spotlight, but has become the youngest self-made billionaire with her cosmetic line.
PewDiePie
108 Million Followers on YouTube
What an interesting name! Also known as Felix Kjellberg, PewDiePie is a Swedish gamer who is most popular for his commentary while he plays video games. Yes, this is a thing. He is one of the most popular YouTube personalities in the world and is the most subscribed-to channel.
Addison Rae
77.8 Million Followers on Tik Tok
Tik Tok’s second most followed user, Addison Rae is making a name for herself. She is most popular for her lip-syncing and dance videos on the app, being that she was a competitive dancer. Addison is also partnered with American Eagle as a brand ambassador and launched her own cosmetics line called Item Beauty.
Dave Portnoy
2.4 Million Followers on Twitter
A popular influencer in the world of sports. Dave Portnoy is the President of Barstool Sports, a blog that produces content covering sports and pop-culture. Highly recommend for a good laugh!
Shawn Johnson East
3 Million Followers on Instagram
We all remember Shawn Johnson from the 2008 Summer Olympics, right? If you don’t, here you go (spoiler alert, she wins a gold medal) – Shawn Johnson’s Gold Medal Moment. You’re welcome! From Olympic Gold Medalist to wife, to momma, Shawn Johnson and her husband Andrew East host a podcast called Couple Things and it’s the best thing you’ll listen to.
With all that to say, believe in yourself, cheer yourself on and share on social media. You can be your company’s own social media influencer. No need for the blue check mark or famous background!
